10 Creative Ways to Pray with Your Kids


1.    Alphabet prayer

  • Practice thankfulness using the letters of the alphabet! Go in order as a family and each say something you’re thankful for using the A, B, Cs.

  • Example: I’m thankful that I got to see my friend Abby at school today, B…. I’m thankful mom put Blueberries in my lunch today, and so on!


2.    Prayer walk outside

  • Take a walk outside, thanking God for the beauty of creation as you go. Pick up mementos on the way and turn it into a craft when you get home!

  • Collect leaves, sticks, flowers, rocks, woodchips, etc and make a collage of your prayer walk.

 

3.    Pray through Art!

  • Whether painting or coloring, designate different colors for different topics and pray as you craft.

  • Example: Blue = family, Red = friends, Green = creation


4.    Prayer Journal

  • Have your kids write simple prayer sentences or drawings to God and keep the journal designated for praying.

 

5.    Pray through movement

  • Yoga, breathing, dancing!

6.    Prayer walk your neighborhood

  • Stop at doors to pray for the person who lives there.

 

7.    Adopt a missionary kid your kids can pray for!

  • Get a picture of the child so they can see who they are praying for!

  • Write prayer letters together to the missionary kid and they could even become pen pals.

9.    Pray with friends

  • Encourage your kids to pray for their friends by recording a video of them praying, writing them a letter or drawing them a picture of what they want to pray for!

 Create a prayer jar - there are tons of ideas on google!

  • Spend some time having fun decorating your jar and making it look fun and exciting!

  • Get some jumbo popsicle sticks and write different prayer request/ways to pray on them

  • Use and enjoy.
