The biggest thing God has been showing me over and over is that He is at work. Always. Long before we got here, and long after we leave.
I was reading in 1 Corinthians and He reminded me of “and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Holy Spirit and of power, so that your belief might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” (and 3:7) “So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth.”
There’s such a relief and excitement that we’re not carrying the weight of trying to ‘save the world’ but that we get to be invited into the work He’s already doing. Which leads to an exciting answer to all of our prayers...we made another friend! Rosie & I faithfully go to places we think we can meet girls our age, and it's been one of the biggest struggles. About four weeks ago we were journaling in a South Asian version of a coffee shop, we smiled at A* - and she smiled back. Two hours later, she invited us to visit her home! We've now met her family, been to her cousin's house, she's come over to our flat, we've gone out for dinner (and coffee) several times, celebrated a festival together, and practiced mehendi on each other. We were able to use henna stories to share the stories of God, and even walk through the Gospel with her. Knowing God will use His truth in her heart whenever He wants, He gives the growth. We also had the chance to go exploring the city and get ice cream with our other sweet friend Cha, to have deep heart conversations, and just love her well. Those two relationships have been deepened with His love and sharing life together. I love that He's called us here, at this time to bear His image to those who have never seen His face or heard His voice.
