There is no substitute for the lessons God teaches us through walking with Him. But you cannot grow into what you do not submit yourself to.
You cannot become what you do not behold.
I think we've made the mistake of riding ahead into battle when we haven't been a foot soldier. We try to do the work of a craftsman without being first an apprentice. We ask to lead instead of learning by following.
Be humble, observe, submit.
What if walking in the will of God is actually sitting humbly at His feet and the worn feet of those ahead of us?
What if doing things for God is making us miss the real task?
What if the real task is simply knowing and delighting in Him?
