You will live in Southeast Asia, a region full of history, cultural diversity, and great opportunity for the advance of the Gospel. The people are friendly, hospitable, and proud of their culture and traditions. The predominant religions in this region are a mixture of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Animism. You will learn the language, culture, and history, and build relationships in order to share the hope of the Gospel.

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW

A Cafe 1040 Team Leader (TL) is a strong organizational leader with a natural bent toward developing others. Overseas TLs lead and manage teams in limited access locations to lead a generation to tell the story of Jesus where it has never been told. If selected as a TL, you will collaborate with other TLs and organizational leadership to shape the overall mission strategy of Cafe 1040. You will practically serve your team in setting a clear vision and direction for the team and establishing patterns of life and work that keep with the values of Cafe 1040’s humble, hungry, and resilient community toward the overall goals of our mission.

REQUIREMENTS

CRITICAL QUALITIES:

  • Mature Christian faith and agreement with Cafe 1040’s statement of faith

  • A passionate follower of Jesus Christ with a proven devotion to the habits necessary to maintain a daily relationship with him

  • Reflect personal and public integrity in line with Biblical principles

  • Possess a longing for the fulfillment of the Great Commission

  • Possesses a current knowledge of critical issues and trends associated with missions

  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing environments

  • Striving to lead according to the biblical model set forth in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9

  • Leadership Experience

  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality

 SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2 years of ongoing cross-cultural service, demonstrated ability to live and thrive in cross-cultural environments

  • Experience making decisions in a timely manner and while under pressure

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate others

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to perform well under stress to meet deadlines

  • Multi-faceted ability to both inspire followers and attend to detail-oriented administration

  • Experience in evangelism and discipleship of others

  • Bible Certificate or willingness to obtain during onboarding

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Quick-learning and self-teaching

  • Patient and adaptable disposition to changing circumstances

  • English Speaking

  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and Apple OS

 SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the spiritual leader for the team and prioritize the spiritual development of each team member.

    • Maintain an overall ethos of servant leadership that rises to the occasion of the needs of your team.

    • Ensure appropriate time and resources for rest, worship, and spiritual formation of staff.

    • Guide the team in what it means to effectively be the Body of Christ in an overseas, cross-cultural environment.

  • Communicate needs of the team with Staff Care Team.

  • Advocate on behalf of team members for their best interests with stateside staff, sending church, and local resources.

  • Plan and execute an annual team retreat to prioritize development of the team.

  • Establish expectations and provide accountability for local engagement; lead efforts to find a healthy balance between “program and worker life”.

  • Oversee Program Lead and Operations Manager on the team and serve as the final decision-making authority in these areas.

  • Communicate strategic vision for your team.

  • Supervise and enforce standard protocols in the areas of Human Resources and Security.

  • Function as a team member and carry out other duties and responsibilities assigned to the team as appropriate. This may include, but is not limited to:

    • Preparing and delivering classroom instruction

    • Mentoring students in an individual setting

  • Maintain sustainable funding levels for your role through Cafe 1040’s support-raising model and provide accountability in this for team members.

  • Actively take opportunities to mobilize those people in the scope of your influence toward involvement and investment in the mission and vision of Cafe 1040.

  • Support and uphold the policies, values, and statement of faith of Cafe 1040.
